Description

St Oswald’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care to babies, children, young people and adults with life limiting conditions from across the North East of England. Established in 1986, we have gained a local, national and international reputation for providing first class outstanding quality care. As a charity, our vision is to provide excellence in care for those with incurable conditions, ensuring everyone in our region gets expert, dignified and compassionate care when they need it, and our values reflect the way we deliver this.

We offer a range of adult services and follow a team approach with clinical and allied health professionals contributing. We also care for babies, children and young adults with progressive, life shortening and life-threatening conditions. We are fortunate to be part of the wider healthcare system in the North East and as part of this we have developed a palliative care research programme with Hospices North East, and Newcastle and Northumbria Universities.

Our Chief Executive, James Ellam, is stepping down in the middle of 2020, and we are now searching for his successor: a values-based, forward thinking, entrepreneurial and strategic Chief Executive to lead the Hospice into the next phase of our development. You will be innovative in your approach, be excellent at developing strategic partnerships, and ensure that we continue to provide outstanding quality services within a tight regulatory environment. You will have exceptional interpersonal skills and will build strong relationships internally and externally with a wide range of people, organisations, and professionals. With a shared commitment to our values, you will be an inspirational leader able to motivate and develop a longstanding, dedicated and loyal team. You will inspire trust and confidence, empowering our people to achieve the highest standards of performance.
